Accessing, monitoring and configuring your HoloLens is done through the Windows Device Portal. To access the Windows Device Portal you have setup an username and password in the past. But like any other username/password combination it is sometimes forgotten. That happens for me a lot a customers having their own HoloLens devices.

There is an easy trick to reset the password of the Windows Device Portal. It was mentioned by my colleague Joost. Connect the HoloLens device to your computer. Access Windows Device Portal through http://127.0.0.1:10080.

A popup is shown requesting an username and password. Leave both blank and press the “Sign In” button a few times. Mostly it is 4 times. Then the system will return the following page.

You have now the ability to do a credentials reset of your Windows Device Portal. Press the “Request pin” button.

Enter the pin which is displayed inside the HoloLens device and enter a new username and new password. Do not worry If by mistake you remember your login before you enter the new credentials. The old credentials are replaced after you have paired the HoloLens device again.

Happy accessing your device again!
